Welcome to JogTunesIndie’s podcasting and blogging page. This is where the action is. To see the songs we play on our podcast, go to the Tunes page. There you can find links to the artists’ sites and to sites where you can sample and purchase the tunes.
So what is the JogTunesIndie Podcast? It’s a 30 minute podcast that must be “run to.” By that we mean it’s intended to be listened to while you’re running. Not that you can’t listen while driving or sitting in your living room. It’s just that the songs are selected and sequenced solely for running exactly to the beat of the music. The podcast plays independent music with tempos that match most runners’ cadences. It begins with a brief introduction and a warm-up tune at a walking BPM range of 80-100. This is followed by a sequenced series of runnable tunes that begins in the 150-160 range and usually peaks with a tune in the BPM range of 170-180. The sequence slows back down to 150-160 and ends with a cool-down in the 150 range or a walk at 80-100.
We call this whole gig music-paced running. We introduced the concept at our sibling website, jogTunes.com, where we list record label artists’ tunes by BPM and provide 30 minute playlists. All of the tunes and playlists have links to the iTunes Music Store.
At JogTunesIndie we continue to list music for music-paced running that is selected according to their BPMs. Choosing independent music allows us to play the music on our podcast as well as promote independent artists. We use the Podsafe Music Network as our primary source because we are guaranteed that the music is podsafe. The other music resources are presented to help users purchase the songs. When the PMN opens their purchasing option, many of the songs will be available there.
We hope you find music-paced running as enjoyable, exhilarating, and motivating as we have. Please feel free to offer suggestions, comments, and new songs for us to add to the podcast.

Here it is! The first JogTunesIndie Podcast. The only music-paced running podcast featuring indie music from the Podsafe Music Network (as far as we know).
Have you ever wanted to run exactly to the beat of your music but haven’t had the time to calculate the BPMs, sequence the songs in a playlist, and download them to your player? Fret no more. Just subscribe to the JTI Podcast for a fun half-hour of running to great music, selected by me, Dr. Bob, the founder of jogTunes.com.
This first podcast features songs that I heard on the Daily Source Code, Accident Hash, and the Maccast. You can see the playlist for this show on our playlist page.
A special thanks goes to the artists for their great songs and to Charlie Crowe for the great lead-in and background music. Here’s his listing on the PMN.

Black Lab
Bob Gentry
You can see the playlist for this show on our playlist page.
Almost all of the songs in the playlist are for sale through links to the Podsafe Music Network and/or iTunes. The one exception is The Easy Way by Bob Gentry. But, Bob has been kind enough to offer this track free of charge to listeners of this podcast and anyone else who joins his text mailing list. (Bob sends out about 1 or 2 text messages a month.) To do this, text, from any cell phone, the word bobgentry to the number 66937. This will text you back all the info to get the track once you reply with a Y.

Hey, thanks for doing this, it’s great music and it’s nice to have someone else pick it out and string it together. I suggested your podcast to the core fans of Podrunner, as well as asked iTunes Store to post yours as an option. Please keep it up! –Yours, Nathan Copple
We just received this kind comment from Nathan Copple today. Thanks, Nathan. You made my day. –Dr. Bob

Welcome to the third JogTunesIndie Podcast, “the BPM-based indie music podcast that’s meant to be run to.” That one-line description comes from Taylor McKnight of podbop.org who included the word “awesome” in the reference. Thanks, Taylor, for your kind comment.
With this episode Dr. Bob introduces a new theme in which each show plays songs by artists played on another “guest” music podcast. This episode features Matthew Ebel’s High Orbit Podcast and the artists he played on episodes 29, 33, 34, and 35.
Polaradio
Audio Spaghetti
Signal to Noise
Mossback
The Alice Project
X-Ray Dogs
Matthew is a great talent. We played his own songs on the last podcast (JTIP #2) and visited many of the websites he has designed. His selection of indie artists is outstanding.
The background warm-up music for this episode was provided by Axinite, a great Colorado-based instrumental group listed on the Podsafe Music Network. We continue to be grateful to Charlie Crowe for the great lead-in and closing music we play on all the episodes. Here’s his PMN page.
You can find the playlist and other details in the podcast show notes at jogtunesindie.com. We can be reached by email at comments@jogtunes.com.

Welcome to the fourth JogTunesIndie Podcast, “the BPM-based indie music podcast that’s meant to be run to.”
Consistent with our new theme, Dr. Bob plays songs by artists whom he found on one prominent music podcast. This episode features Insomnia Radio, a network of great indie music podcasts and streaming radio.
The Insomnia Radio Podcasts and the artists are listed below. You can find all the album, song, BPM, and purchase details on the playlist page.
- Insomnia Radio Seattle - What Made Wilwaukee Famous
- Insomnia Radio Baltimore - grubspoon
- Insomnia Radio UK - Impossible Songs, The Shakes
- Insomnia Radio #87 - Sinch
- Insomnia Radio #121 - Letters Burning
- Insomnia Radio #121 - Motion Soundtrack
We also offer you Dr. Bob’s hint of the month: Consider keeping more than the last two JogTunesIndie Podcasts on your player. That way, if you’re inspired to run to an older episode, it’ll be right there on your player.
The background warm-up music for this episode was provided by George Fletcher’s Bourbon Renewal, a great New York-based instrumental group listed on the Podsafe Music Network. The tune is called Rumble Groove and runs at 156 BPM.
We continue to be grateful to Charlie Crowe for the great lead-in and closing music we play on all the episodes. Here’s his PMN page.

We continue to be grateful to Charlie Crowe for the great lead-in music we play on all the episodes. Here’s his PMN page.
